To provide a venue for CACC
members and other sports car enthusiasts who wish to experience
higher speeds than existing Autoslalom programs allow and/or
for whom the CACC Racing program is not currently affordable,
desirable or available. CACC Solosprint offers the car enthusiast
the chance to take his/her car and driving skills to the limit
in a safe and controlled environment among experienced racers
and organizers.
To provide a safe, well structured program and learning environment
for CACC members who wish to make the transition from Autoslalom
to CACC Racing competition. Membership in CACC member clubs
and Solosprint competition licenses are required.
Solosprint events are a step closer to road racing. Events
usually take place on road racing circuits where each
competitor takes turns challenging the track and the clock
to turn the fastest time against other cars in their class.
Solosprint is another opportunity to develop your car
control skills, but at speeds approaching those of road racing.
A Solosprint competitor must first compete as an Autoslalom
competitor or have equivalent on-track experience before
qualifying for a Novice Solosprint Licence. After a
season of competition under the scrutiny of CACC officials,
a Novice can apply for a Senior Solosprint Licence.
Solosprint requires additional safety equipment beyond that
mandated for Autoslalom.
Hill climbs are the most challenging events under the Solosport
category. Competitors are on a quest for the fastest
time up the hill. Hill climbs are organized and set
up on closed winding mountain roads, which are often lined
by trees on one side and a steep cliff on the other.
This environment makes for a heart-stopping ride to
the top. Hill climbs have the most stringent safety requirements
of all Solosport events. The drivers must be highly
experienced and their cars must be equipped with special
safety apparatus. The Knox Mountain Hill
Climb in Kelowna, BC is one of the oldest in North America.
It is usually held on the May long weekend and has been
run for more than forty years. Competitors come from
all over Western Canada and the Northwestern US.
