Proposed Regulation

CACC event insurance does not cover damage resulting from the use of drones at CACC events. As such, the use of drones at CACC events is permitted providing the following conditions are met:
1. The drone operator possesses a valid Transport Canada Drone Pilot Certificate – Advanced Operations.
2. The drone operator has liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $5,000,000 naming the Confederation of Autosport Car Clubs, the organizing club and the event facility and related parties as additionally insured on the insurance certificate.
3. The drone operator shall provide a copy of their Transport Canada Drone Pilot Certificate and the insurance certificate to the host club and to the CACC Insurance Administrator at least one week in advance of the event.
4. Drone operation shall be done in accordance with Transport Canada, facility, event sponsor, provincial and local drone rules.
5. The drone shall not be flown over or within the restricted area when competition vehicles are on course.
6. For the purposes of creating promotional or educational media, drones may be flown in the restricted area during a non-competitive session dedicated this purpose providing that the number of vehicles is reduced, the speed at which the vehicles operate is reduced and such vehicles are operated by qualified senior drivers.
7. The drone operator shall advise event officials when commencing each occurrence of drone operation.
