Date CreatedSeptember 29, 2025
Name of ProponentStanton R Guy
Short DescriptionDelete reference to 'Improved Production Roll Cage' - It doesn't exist.
Applicable Regulatory DocumentVintage
Type of Rule ChangeModification
Affected SectionVintage Competition Regulations - Section 4.8 Roll Over Protection - subsection 4.8.1
Current Regulation

4.8.1   Roll Cages complying with CACC Improved Production safety standards ARE required by all cars prepared and raced after January 1, 1980. Vintage racing vehicles with a verified history (e.g., a log book) prior to January 1, 1980 with a roll over bar MAY be raced as is, providing the mounting structure is acceptable.

Proposed Regulation

4.8.1  Roll Cages complying with current CACC General Competition Regulations Section 16.1 are required by all cars prepared and raced after January 1, 1980. Vintage racing vehicles with a verified history (e.g., a log book) prior to January 1, 1980 with a roll over bar may be raced as is, providing the mounting
structure is acceptable.

Reason for Rule Change

There is no such specifically defined item as an Improved Production roll cage so this is irrelevant. (It was a terminology used in the Vintage rules prior to affiliation with the CACC and not deleted at that time.) All Vintage CW cars are subject to the same roll cage requirements as non-Vintage. The exception has been retained just to allow for the potential acceptance of a genuinely historic car (likely a rare occurence) subject to the approval of the scrutineers at that time..

This change was suggested / recommended by Jim Kurtz.

Regulation as Amended and Published

Roll Cages complying with current CACC General Competition Regulations "Roll Cage Specifications", "General Requirements" section are required by all cars prepared and raced after January 1, 1980. Vintage racing vehicles with a verified history (e.g., a log book) prior to January 1, 1980 with a roll over bar may be raced as is, providing the mounting structure is acceptable.
