Applicable Regulatory DocumentTime Attack
Type of Rule ChangeAddition
Affected Section18.7.2.7
Proposed Regulation

18.7.2.7.2 For Hill Climb events, Max class participant who take advantage of 18.7.2.7.1 will be bumped up on class. For example, a Max 5 car running 40TW tires would be Max 4.

18.7.2.7.3 For Hill Climb events, Max 1 class participants who take advantage of 18.7.2.7.1 will be bumped up to Max 1R.

Reason for Rule Change

Currently the rule allows 40TW tires to compete directly with cars running 200TW tires. This provides an absolute advantage to cars running the 40TW tires. All other Time Attack events limit Max Class to 200TW. Hill Climb events are an exception as it is a long standing practice of many drivers to run 40TW tires; this new rule allows that and still maintains an element of fairness.
Max 1 cars, for many reasons, do not want to be bumped to an Open Class, therefore, Max 1R creates a Max class that allows cars to remain in Max and still take advantage of the 40TW rule.

Regulation as Amended and Published

18.7.2.7.2 For Hill Climb events, Max class participants who take advantage of of the preceding rule will be bumped up on class. For example, a Max 5 car running 40TW tires would be Max 4. For Hill Climb events, Max 1 class participants who take advantage of the preceding rule will be bumped up to Max 1R.
