Current Regulation

It is highly recommended that any part of the roll bar or of the car’s structure which may be
struck by the competitor's helmet in a serious impact, be covered with a flame-retardant energy
absorbing material. Padding meeting SFI spec 45.1 is highly recommended.

Proposed Regulation

All portions of the roll bar subject to contact by the driver must be padded with a
minimum 1 inch of material or padding that meets or exceeds SFI 45.1 or FIA 8857-
2001 (curved padding), or SFI 45.2 or FIA sports car headrest material (flat padding)
specification

Reason for Rule Change

Roll Bar padding standards should be equivalent to roll cage standards.
