Proposed Regulation

Spec Miata competitors are limited to a maximum of three sets of new dry-weather competition tires per racing season. Any competitor going over the limit shall start from the back of the grid the race weekend sticker tires are used.

Reason for Rule Change

Tires represent one of the largest recurring expenses in Spec Miata racing and are also one of the easiest areas for competitors to gain a short-term performance advantage simply by spending more money.
Spec Miata is intended to provide close, competitive racing with relatively equal equipment. Allowing an unrestricted number of new tire sets creates an unnecessary advantage for competitors who are willing or able to purchase fresh tires more frequently.
Limiting competitors to three sets per season would place greater emphasis on driving, setup, and tire management rather than the ability to continually purchase new tires.
Tires can be stamped by tech with the top 5 cars sporadically checked after races for tire stamps
