| Affected Section | 18.7.2.7.2 |
| Current Regulation | 18.7.1 Time Attack, Time Attack – Passing and Hillclimb |
| Proposed Regulation | 18.7.2.7.2 For Hill Climb events, Max class participants who take advantage of of the 18.7.1 Time Attack, Time Attack – Passing and Hillclimb 18.7.7 Hillclimb In addition to the above, Max Race class will be added for Hill Climb. This is to give a home to cars that are prepped beyond the limit of max but do not properly fit into unlimited. Cars that fit within the Max category but have weight reduction or race prep modifications that do not otherwise fit in the class can run in Max Race. The class number is the same however the following rules are allowed in Max Race: Lexan windows complying with CACC GCR are allowed. |
| Reason for Rule Change | The addition of Max Race is to accommodate existing cars that are not at the performance level for unlimited but are beyond the modification allowances for Max. Given that max is considered a “street car class”, making significant allowance changes to accommodate these cars is confusing and muddies the competition. Given that some max competitors do not meet the safety requirements for running sub 200tw tires and some do, it makes competition potentially one sided and does not fit the ethos of “heavily modified street car”. This rule would remove the “bumping up” a class to allow for sub 200tw race tires and instead move those cars into max race. Deviating significantly from the max rules by allowing sub 200tw tires, weight reduction modifications. The intention is to reduce the overall number of classes by either combining sport and tuner into a single class or to combine sport and tuner into max class with a performance modifier. |
