Proposed Regulation

5.2.2.1 To qualify as a passenger at any CACC event, the passenger must:
5.2.2.1.1 be no younger than 13 years of age and at least 145 cm (57 inches) tall;

Reason for Rule Change

- The passenger age restriction of 14 years is seemingly arbitrary with no available evidence to support it
- Research does identify elevated injury risk for children aged 12 and under
- Minimum height of 57 inches is recommended for front seat airbag safety
- In May 2025, the SCCA announced that a review by its risk management function had led to a revision of its passenger rules, establishing a minimum age of 12 and recommending airbag deactivation for passengers below 57 inches.
- Both the Sports Car Club of America and Motorsport UK permit 12-year-old passengers in comparable timed driving disciplines (autocross and autotest, respectively). Motorsport Ireland also permits children at the age of 12 to operate vehicles in supervised autotest (autoslalom) competition. This indicates a 12-year age minimum is an established international practice in organized motorsport.
